Huai'an Airport opened its duty-free store on Sept. 25 as the airport marked its 8th anniversary this year.

Chen Jie, general manager the duty-free store at the Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport, said the newly opened retail outlet is a branch of one in Xuzhou, a part of the China Duty Free Group.

The store at the Huai'an Airport now only sells tobacco and alcohol, while other products including perfume, cosmetics, watches, sunglasses, electronic products and some accessories will be put on the shelves later.

Chen said that the goods in duty-free shops are generally 30 to 60 percent cheaper than the normal market price.

The new store attracted many passengers on the Huai'an-Taipei route on its first day of operation.

Sept. 26 marked the eighth anniversary of the inauguration of the airport’s flight services and the opening of a duty-free store is a milestone in the airport’s development, said a manager. From January to August, the airport served 60,000 passengers, playing an important role in expanding the city’s opening up and export-oriented economy. Editor:Dylan
