Nanjing ranks 7th largest outbound tourists city

Nanjing City had the largest number of people among Jiangsu tourists who travelled abroad in the first half of the year and their per capita consumption exceeded 5,000 yuan ($729), ranking second in the province, according to a report released by China Tourism Academy and Ctrip Joint Laboratory of Tourism Big Data.

Data from Ctrip, a leading travel service provider, showed the number of outbound tourists in Jiangsu increased significantly this year, up 75 percent year-on-year. In the first half of the year, residents who left from 19 cities in the province visited over 200 cities in more than 60 countries.

The report also showed Nanjing ranked seventh among China’s top 20 outbound tourists cities. Judging from the registration of Jiangsu’s outbound travelers, about 60 percent were from the provincial capital.

In Jiangsu, the top five cities in terms of tourism spending were Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Changzhou and Yangzhou, with average per capita consumption exceeding 5,000 yuan.

Data also showed the top ten overseas destinations for Jiangsu tourists this year were Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia, Russia, Germany and Australia.
