Lianyungang Airport plans to open a new international route connecting the eastern Jiangsu city and Osaka, Japan in this October, one year after it launched the international route to Bangkok, Thailand in 2017.

Entering the second half of 2018, Lianyungang Airport continues to witness rising passenger and cargo traffic, completing 1,252 landing and takeoff operations in July, up 280 or 29 percent year-on-year. The passengers reached 130,732, a rise of 37 percent year-on-year from 95,126 in 2017.

In addition, Lianyungang has been approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Bureau to issue group visa at the port this year.

Under this policy, a foreign tourist group entering China via the port in Lianyungang do not have to apply for visas to Chinese embassies and consulates abroad. Instead, the travel agency can apply on behalf of tourists at the Exit and Entry Management Department of Lianyungang City Public Security Bureau, which, after review and verification, will issue the group visa for the tourist group upon their arrival.
