Haimen City of Jiangsu Province is actively pushing forward infrastructure projects including building the Shanghai Third Airport, according to local media reports.

The airport will be used for take-off and landing of business jets while allocating limited resources to also serve large aircraft and ensure services to more passengers.

Haimen City

As the number of flights increases and strains airspace, Hongqiao Airport and Pudong Airport in Shanghai are reaching to their capacity. Located at the mouth of the Yangtze River to the sea, Haimen city is only 60 km away from Shanghai. With such a favorable geographic location, Shanghai Third Airport will cover a large area north of the Yangtze River and benefit integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Suzhou City

The head of the Suzhou Municipal Planning Bureau confirmed to the media that the city is planning to conduct studies on an airport in its Suzhou City General Urban Planning (2017-2035) under compilation now. According to the plan, before the end of 2018, Suzhou will officially report the new urban planning programs to the State Council and wait for approval.
