The 2018 China Liyang Tea Festival and Tianmu Lake Travel Mart (Two Festivals) were open at the newly-built Yanhu Park in Liyang of Changzhou city, Jiangsu province, on the morning of April 10.

About 1,000 guests, including representatives from overseas sister cities, businessmen, domestic and international academicians, web celebrities, and travelholics, attended the opening ceremony.

Various activities will be held during the one-month-long Two Festivals to show the natural and industrial resources of Liyang, such as a group launching of several core projects, the groundbreaking ceremony for Tianmu Lake Campus of NUAA, tea culture trips, an international forum for rural revitalization, etc. Visitors can enjoy the amazing scenery and experience local cultures along the Highway No.1, which connects most scenic spots of Liyang’s Nanshan Mountain, Beishan Mountain and Caoshan Mountain.

Mutual development for all sister cities

A signing ceremony stole the limelight at the opening ceremony of the Two Festivals, as Liyang and Ukraine’s Truskavec agreed to be sister cities. “I hope Liyang and Truskavec can agree to a cooperative pattern for mutual benefits, especially in the fields of health and tourism,” Truskavec mayor said on the opening ceremony, “We have little programs on Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the government is eager to introduce such programs from China.”

During these years, Liyang has been playing an active role in taking advantage of its foreign resources, especially benefiting from cooperation with sister cities. Before Truskavec, Liyang has already bonded sister-city relationship with seven other cities in Japan, the US, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and Cyprus.

High-end talents for high-quality development

Ten elites with Liyang origin were especially invited to give suggestions for the high-quality development of their hometown, including three academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and seven other specialists. The international forum for rural revitalization, to be held on April 11, will pool academicians and specialists in rural designing and planning from China, Germany, and Japan. Together, they will schedule a new strategic blueprint for Liyang's rural revitalization.

Region-based tourism for unique city brand

Liyang has rich natural resources, boasting a number of 5A tourism resorts, tourism demonstration zones, and wetland parks of national level. With a total tourism revenue of 20.659 billion yuan (about $3.28 billion), Liyang is striving to become a rural tourism demonstration zone with its own development pattern.

Titled as a Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Resort, Caoshan Mountain is a newly-developed tourism attraction in Liyang. Great efforts have been made to develop characteristic tourism in Caoshan Mountain, centering on ecological agriculture, sports and leisure, rural cultures, and health resorts, which improves both the cultural connotation and tourism competitiveness for the mountain.

Jiang Feng, secretary of Liyang municipal Party committee, called for every aspiring man there to contribute to the city of Liyang, which is becoming more and more open, confident and inclusive.
