Nanjing Transport Bureau said on March 5 that a 360° high-speed railway network will be built in the city to develop a comprehensive system that combines roads, railways, waterways and air transportation.

Nanjing will try to include the Nanjing-Huaian Railway and the Nanjing-Huangshan High-speed Railway into national planning and start their construction as early as possible, connecting Nanjing more conveniently in eight directions with cities of Beijing, Lianyungang(Qingdao), Shanghai, Hangzhou, Huangshan(Fujian), Anqing (Nanchang), Hefei(Wuhan) and Zhengzhou.

The city will also speed up construction on the Nanjing North Railway Station, combine air transportation with high-speed railway transportation at Nanjing Lukou International Airport, and form four main railway stations in the city. By 2020, as the high-speed railway linking Baoji and Lanzhou opens, Xining, capital of Qinghai Province, will become the 25th provincial capital city linked with Nanjing through fast trains.
