Huai'an plans 7 new metro lines

Huai’an City plans to build seven urban rail transit lines with a total length of 255 kilometers, according to a planning recently approved by the city’s government.

The Huai'an Urban Rail Transit Network Planning includes five metro lines to serve the city’s major areas as well as two more lines to link with the neighboring regions.

The population size and economic conditions of the major urban areas have met the requirements of building rail transit system. The planning started in 2016 and passed the experts review organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in June this year.

The blueprint outlines the city’s development goal of rail transit. By 2035, commuting among the city’s central hubs will be within 20 minutes, 40 minutes to the suburban industrial zones, and one hour to other areas under the jurisdiction of the city.
