The 2018 World Intelligent Manufacturing Summit (WIMS), themed "Empowering the Future through Intelligent Manufacturing," raised the curtain in Nanjing City on October 12, with an exhibition area of about 50,000 square meters.

As part of the summit, the “World Manufacturing Regions and Cities Cooperation Development Forum,” held on the afternoon of October 11, attracted more than 300 participants from governments, enterprises and research institutes home and abroad. The “Nanjing City Cluster Intelligent Manufacturing Development Alliance” was also launched during the forum.

In the run up to the 2018 WIMS, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Shanghai jointly issued the "Yangtze River Delta Intelligent Manufacturing Collaborative Innovation Development Initiative", pledging to build a regional alliance for integrated development of smart manufacturing, align manufacturing standards, and develop a network for synergistic innovation.

Cities attending the forum agreed that intelligent manufacturing has become an inevitable trend and strategic choice for the world's manufacturing sector. Making manufacturing intelligent is also an inevitable path to reshape the delta’s new advantages in manufacturing industry and achieve industrial transformation.

According to the 2017-2018 China Robot Development Report, as of the first half of this year, Jiangsu had planned to build six industrial parks and there were more than 2,200 enterprises in robot industry in the province, including five among the nation’s top 20 popular robot manipulators.
