Seven food and beverage companies from the Netherlands gathered at the China Huaian International Food Expo on April 19 seeking business cooperation opportunities during talks with ten of China’s supermarkets and online retailers.

At the expo, Oro Del Desierto introduced its olive oil, the company’s flagship product, with a carefully crafted video and leaflets, saying the company’s manufacturing philosophy is to produce 100 percent pure organic food for its customers.

Candies brought by Concorp BV to the expo inspired interest from several Chinese supermarkets and e-business shops. Other specialties, such as smoked salmon and the Netherlands’ Stroopwafel were also popular at the expo.

The Netherlands Business Support Office (NBSO), an organization sanctioned by the Netherlands government, assists Dutch companies and trade organizations to find their way in promising markets. Set up in 1996, NBSO’s Nanjing office has maintained good relations with Huaian. At this year’s Huaian International Food Expo, NBSO organized seven Dutch food companies to take part with the hope of promoting trade between the two countries.
