Taizhou eyes 100 billion-yuan agricultural cluster

Taizhou Municipal Government, Nanjing Agricultural University (NJAU) and Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College signed a cooperation agreement on April 10 to jointly kick off two institutes - Taizhou Branch of NJAU National Meat Quality and Safety Control Engineering Technology Research Center and NJAU Taizhou Research Institute.

On the same day, the China Agricultural University (Xinghua) Health Food Industry Research Institute was also unveiled.

Qu Futian, Secretary of Taizhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that Taizhou adheres to pushing forward innovation and is committed to making key breakthroughs in building an industrial base with specific characteristics in the Yangtze River Delta region. Therefore, the city needs support from large-scale and advanced research facilities from home and abroad in an effort to enhance the city’s scientific and technological research and development, as well as lay a solid foundation for its industrial development. The cooperation project will promote the transfer of scientific and technological results to Taizhou, accelerating the transformation of the technologies into actual productivity.

On April 11, Taizhou Municipal People's Government, Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands and Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute also signed a tripartite cooperation agreement to manage the design and construction of intelligent tomato greenhouse and establish a comprehensive prevention and control strategy based on biological control of tomato pests. The joint program explores new ways of cooperation between government, enterprises and research institutes.
