Zhang Guiping, president of Jiangsu Suning Global Group and also a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, proposed establishing a national fund by private enterprises to integrate all kinds of resources and implement unified supervision to alleviate poverty.

Noting the fundamental importance of improving the quality of education in poor areas, Zhang suggested combining the strengths of private companies and rich resources in poverty-stricken areas to launch technical schools, help locals develop more skills to boost income and work locally, and also throw off poverty locally.

With financial support from governments, private companies can also implement targeted measures, improve treatment of teachers, stabilize the teaching staff and reduce the loss of teachers to enable school-age children to receive education in local areas.

Zhang also suggested selecting some cadres from grassroots levels for regular exchange experiences in well-performing private companies to help them develop good management skills, expand their vision in problem-solving, and facilitate better links between contributors and those in need to overcome poverty.

In addition, private companies also need to take into consideration the resources and industrial foundation in poverty-hit areas so they can help launch industrial projects and improve healthcare, education and public service facilities.
