U.S. academician granted business license in Nanjing

David Waite, a professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia and member of U.S. National Academy of Engineering, signed an agreement with Nanjing Puxin Environmental Protection Technology on Mar. 5 to jointly establish a research institute of environmental technology. The institution acquired a business license the same day.

Over the last four decades, Waite has made significant contributions to environmental chemistry and enjoys a high reputation and strong influence globally.

The program in Nanjing, Jiangsu province is a collaboration among David Waite’s team, Nanjing Puxin Environmental Protection Technology and the Administration Committee of Jiangning Development Zone. With a China-Australia technical team and a new market-oriented operation model, the institution aims to create a national-level research and development platform of environmental technology that is advanced at home and abroad.

The institution will mainly deal with research, development and industrialization of advanced industrial wastewater treatment technology. It will also incubate a number of enterprises in fields, including assessment of contaminated sites and soil remediation, wastewater treatment, river and lake governance as well as development of real-time intelligent water environment management systems.
