The “PAC ALKAID” cargo ship, loaded with 25,100 tons of wheat from the US, docked at the Jiangsu Runhua Logistics Terminal at Yangzhong’s Xilaiqiao town, Zhenjiang city, East China’s Jiangsu province, on Sept 27. This is the first time for a port in Zhenjiang to unload wheat imported from the US.

A staff member from the Zhenjiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said there are strict inspection and quarantine standards for wheat imports, as risk of discovering harmful bacteria is high, especially for the crops from the US. Wheat could carry two kinds of dangerous plant pathogens - Tilletia controversa kuhn and Tilletia indica mitra.

The batch of American wheat, imported by a foreign trade enterprise in Central China’s Hunan province for making drinks, is being unloaded at the port in Zhenjiang.
