Jiangsu General Station of Immigration Inspection stated on February 11 that 151,200 tourists, 885 aircrafts and 375 boats passed through the border checks in the province during the Spring Festival holiday from February 4 to 10, setting historical highs.

The number of passengers leaving and entering the country increased 4.5 percent compared with the Spring Festival last year. Airports saw the number of passengers leaving and entering the country rose by 6.2 percent year on year, and the number of inbound and outbound flights saw a 11.7 percent year-on-year growth.

Jiangsu’s immigration inspection authorities mobilized more than 4,400 police officers and launched the clearance service emergency plan for holidays. The inspection station in Nanjing opened 20 self-service channels for entry and exit clearance, and more than half of the passengers used this service in the travel peak.

Nanjing Lukou International Airport closed temporarily due to a blizzard on the evening of February 8, leaving over 11,000 passengers stranded and 14 outbound flights cancelled. As more than 1,700 international passengers needed to process customs clearance, local border inspection police worked efficiently from 3 am, completed all procedures in about two hours, and also handled 24-hour entry permit procedures for total of 86 passengers.
