Nanjing Lukou Int’l Airport sets records in Spring Festival

Nanjing Lukou International Airport handled 4,017 aircrafts and 571,500 passengers during the Spring Festival “golden week” holiday from February 4 to 10, setting new records.

The average daily air passengers reached about 80,000 from the first day of the Lunar New Year, Feb. 5, to the third day. On Feb. 9, the airport saw the landing and taking off of 741 planes, transporting over 100,000 passengers.

The travel destinations for passengers departing from the airport can be summarized as hot and cold regions. Many tourists visited cold areas such as Sapporo of Japan, northeast China’s Harbin and Changchun, where they experienced snow skiing and hot springs. Some tourists chose the hot destinations, such as Australia, Southeast Asia islands, Guangdong and Guangxi of south China, as the main destinations, to embrace the sunshine. The popular destinations for air travelers were Sydney, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Yangon, Da Nang, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Mandalay.
