Lianyungang imported 4,000 tons of seafood products from countries along the “Belt and Road” Initiative last year, a year-on-year increase of 202 percent, enriching residents’ food choices, Jiangsu media reported on January 29.

The coastal city is home to a port designated for fruit, grain and meat imports into the country. The port has Jiangsu’s first customs supervision center for multimodal transports and first bonded cold warehouse, able to provide professional cold-chain logistics from transportation to storage, distribution, processing and bonded services.

The port also maintains close trade relations with Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, America and other regions. It has international freight trains to destinations in Central Asia and Europe and provides joint containers transportation by the sea and railway, taking the lead in China in terms of handling cross-border containers and offering excellent conditions to the development of cold chain logistics services.
