The organizing committee of the 2018 China (Jiangsu) New Energy Vehicle City Relay Competition held a pre-match press conference in Nanjing City on November 5.

Lu Zaigui, head of Jiangsu Provincial Office for New Energy Vehicle Promotion, said that the province is an important base for the new energy industry and produced 73,000 new energy vehicles in 2017, accounting for 9.1 percent of the country’s total.

From January to September this year, Jiangsu had manufactured 84,000 vehicles, accounting for 11.6 percent in China. The province is expected to make 100,000 vehicles for the whole year, taking a lead in China’s regions. By 2020, Jiangsu will promote more than 150,000 standard new energy vehicles.

The event is scheduled on November 24 and 25 and will have a total journey of 660 kilometers. The relay will start in Nanjing City, pass through Yangzhou, Taizhou, Nantong, Changshu, Suzhou and Changzhou, and end in Liyang. Activities to promote new energy vehicles will be held in cities along the route.
