Lyu Haoran of Suzhou City won the gold medal at the UIBC Junior World Championship of Confectioners, which took place at iba, the world’s leading trade fair for bakery, confectionery and snacks in Munich, according to the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Wuzhong District.

Lyu’s success, the first major world championship for him, came after Zhou Bin and Peng Fudong, both from Suzhou too, who became winners of the "iba-UIBC-Cup of Bakers". They competed against the teams from 12 countries, including the United States, France, Germany and Japan.

Since its start is 1949, iba has developed into an international meeting point for bakers, pastry chefs, restaurateurs, café owners and grocery retailers as well as for hotel professionals and caterers.

This year’s iba in Munich included two competitions - the UIBC Junior World Championship of Confectioners and iba-UIBC-Cup of Bakers.

For the first time in iba’s history, Chinese participants became winners of both competitions. Editor:Dylan
