East China's Jiangsu province is building its first bus station photovoltaic power generation unit on the roof of a building at the Yuhua South Road Bus Parking and Maintenance Station in Nanjing. On Monday workers were installing the unit's main framework.

It is estimated that by the end of 2017 the unit will be put into use after being connected to the power grid. With a designed power generating capacity of 244 kilowatts, the unit can produce an estimated 280,000 kWh of power annually. That will supply not only sufficient daytime electric power for offices and production areas in the station, but also surplus power that can be sold to the State Grid through connecting power lines.
