The National Coordinator Council meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Yangzhou for four days from Aug 22. Up to 40 delegates from across eight SCO member states and two permanent institutions attended the meeting.

Li Huilai, assistant foreign minister, said the National Coordinator Council was one of the key mechanisms ensuring efficient operation of the SCO at the opening ceremony. The meeting was the first held of national coordinators after the Chinese side took on the presidency, and the occasion was also the first coordinator meeting attended by eight member states after the first expansion of the organization, with its significance self-evident.

The meeting reached a consensus on a series of issues and attending parties signed the Meeting Minutes.

After the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseynov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Anvar Nasyrov, and other representatives visited the Slender West Lake and the Songjia City Sports Leisure Park, as well as the 486 Intangible Cultural Zone, Dongguan Street and the Dongquan Gate Historical and Cultural Streets.
