Two cleaners who work at Huai’an Women and Children’s Hospital saved the life of a baby on July 7.

Chen Meiying was cleaning the floor in the afternoon when she saw a couple with a baby sitting outside the laboratory waiting for blood test results. Chen noticed that the baby was extremely quiet and decided to take a closer look.

The baby’s face was very pale and its breathing very rapid. She called over another cleaner who had seen many babies in critical conditions. They agreed the baby was in trouble and needed to go to the emergency room.

A pediatrician surnamed Lin said that the two-month-old baby was suffering severe pneumonia and an intracranial hemorrhage. After treatment, the pneumonia and intracranial hemorrhage were improved, but the baby suffered brain damage and will require further treatment. Dr Lin said that the intervention of these two cleaners saved valuable time in the baby’s treatment.
