A transparent food-safety supervision platform has been established in Huai’an city of Jiangsu province. Those with a designated App in their mobile phones can track food’s whole processing steps including raw material, production, inspection and circulation.

In recent years, the city has explored to build its featured transparent food-safety joint supervision system, achieving good social and economic benefits.

Three years ago, a total of 585 restaurants in the city began to shoot real-time food processing scenes in their kitchens and upload them on the Internet. Diners can see these scenes through their mobile phones with a designated App. Such practice will be applied to all restaurants in the city soon.

At Fengdeng Road Farm Product Market in the city, each stall has its own QR code. Customers can track a product origin by using their mobile phones with a special App to scan the stall’s QR code. The practice has now covered 70 farm product markets, 89 large shopping malls and supermarkets, and 3 online-store distribution centers in the city. If a product has food-safety problems, relevant information including its origin can be tracked, which can limit its spread.

In addition, the city has also established online transparent food-safety supervision platforms for the production and circulation of food products by relying on the Internet way of thinking and big data technology.
