Jiangsu province has established friendly-city relations with 303 foreign cities by the end of 2016, accounting for 12.6 percent of the total number of China’s foreign sister-cities, Jiangsu media reported on April 13.

Cities in Jiangsu have established sister-city relations with those of 55 countries, including 161 friendly cities of top-10 economic foreign countries and 43 sister cities along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which covers almost all major economies, emerging economies and regional powers in the world.

Over 20 sister city-related exchange mechanisms have been established in the province, including the China-Japan Cherry Blossom Friendship Forest, Jianzhen International Marathon and Wu Men Traditional Chinese Medicine Exhibition.

Jiangsu will continuously deepen cooperation with its foreign sister cities in such fields as modern service industries, advanced manufacturing industries and innovation in science and technology. The region also wants to promote exchanges in sectors including clean energy, low-carbon industries and ecological protection, and aims for more public service institutions like schools, libraries and hospitals in the province to benefit from the exchanges with its foreign friendly cities.
