German citizen with heroin valued at 500,000 USD arrested in Mauritius

  A German citizen from Madagascar was arrested at the airport in Mauritius with one kg of heroin that has a estimated street value of 500,000 U.S. dollars, police said here Tuesday.

  This is the second German arrested on the tourist island in the southwest of the Indian Ocean in less than a month.

  The German, who was not identified, arrived at International Airport of Mauritius Friday night by Air Mauritius from Antananarivo. Investigators discovered that the "trolley bag" of the visitor has a double bottom, in which carefully concealed drugs were found, according to the police.

  A provisional charge of importation of heroin was brought against the German. On Friday, he will appear in court.

  On May 1, a German citizen was arrested with 1.3 kg of heroin, worth more than 633,000 dollars, in its suitcases.
