Earthquake: Four PLA helicopters delivering relief supplies, eight others on standby

The quake in Jiuzhaigou has triggered a first class emergency response in Sichuan Province, with the provincial government setting up a command center to coordinate relief efforts. The Sichuan fire department deployed over 20 search and rescue dogs, as well as 12-hundred firefighters carrying 55 life detectors. More than 9-hundred Chinese armed police were also deployed. The Chinese People's Liberation Army dispatched four helicopters to join the relief efforts. These helicopters have emergency communication equipment and food on board, and will be used for rescue and reconnaissance. Eight more army helicopters are standing by for reinforcement. Four medical teams are also on their way to Jiuzhaigou.
