Flamenco is a primary part of Spanish culture, credited with being invented by an outcast community of gypsies in the southern region of Spain during the 18th century.

But some estimate that the origins of flamenco go as far back as 500 years, and combine influences from Greek, Roman, Indian and Moorish cultures.

One Seville-born dancer and choreographer is considered a pioneer in the evolution of contemporary flamenco, and her moves are said to be challenging traditionalism.
