Chinese students delight Moscow crowds

  Over one hundred Chinese students have arrived in Moscow to put on a show of Chinese traditional music. The event marks the threshold of the "Chinese Tourism Year in Russia".

  Despite being jet lagged, these students can’t wait to put on their best show.

  Numbering around a hundred, they come from primary schools from all over China. Each have a talent for striking a chord.

  The little artists looked quite professional as they meticulously prepared for the show.

  For many of them, this is the first time "playing" in a foreign country.

  Chinese performer said, "I’ve never been abroad before. It’s so good to have fun with my fellow students together here. I’m so happy. I like the old buildings here. They are very lovely."

  Chinese performer said, "I like the snow here. It’s so clean and white."

  After a welcoming performance by Russian students, their show kicked off.

  Cucurbit flute, Erhu, Guzheng. These Chinese traditional musical instruments might be quite different from the western ones, however, the music touched the hearts of the audiences. The hall, with a capacity of 400 people was fully packed.

  Russian student said, "The Chinese band has impressed me a lot. This is my first time to see so many Chinese musical instruments play together. I learned the flute, so I’m very interested in Chinese wind music."

  The show concluded with an encore performance of "Katyusha," a Russia folk song that is very popular in China.
